Ten people were killed and six others were injured in an accident involving a commercial bus on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway’s Oyo axis on Tuesday.

Joshua Adekanye, Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Oyo State, revealed this on Tuesday.

Mr Adekanye stated that the single accident occurred at 6.30 a.m. in the Guru Mahajji district of Oyo State.

TRK 135 ZY is the license plate of the commercial bus.

Many lives were lost in accidents on the road in 2022.

According to the latest incident, a commercial bus was traveling overnight from Malumfashi, Kastiina State, when it came upon a truck carrying a container that was going against traffic.

Mr Adekanye stated that the bus collided with the container and plunged into a ditch while attempting to dodge the truck. The truck driver promptly fled the scene of the accident.

In the collision, there were 17 male adults and one male child.

“There were ten male adults died in the tragedy. Six people were injured, including five male adults and one male youngster, while two adult males were unharmed,” he said.

According to the FRSC chief, the injured were transferred to Ibadan Central Hospital, while the bodies were placed at the Adeoyo Hospital morgue in Ibadan.

He stated that the police division at Ibadan’s tollgate area has taken control of the crashed vehicle.
