Four female students from Kogi State Polytechnic, Lokoja, and their driver, who were kidnapped while going home for the holidays in Ondo state, have been released.

Hon Soji Ogedengbe, a former Majority Leader in the Akoko North West Council area of the state, confirmed this to newsmen in Akure.

Ogedengbe also revealed that a ransom was paid before the Kogi State Polytechnic, Lokoja students were released by their captors.

He did not say how much the victims’ parents paid as ransom to the kidnappers.

Last week Friday, the students and the driver of the commercial van carrying them were ambushed and kidnapped along the Akunnu-Ajowa route in the Akoko area of the state.

Before releasing the victims, their kidnappers sought N16m in ransom from their parents.

Funmi Odunlami, the state police spokesperson, did not return her calls to confirm the release of the kids and their driver.
