The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has debunked a viral graphic circulating online which falsely claims that the Commission fixed March 26 as the deadline for government officials intending to contest elections to resign their positions.
In a statement posted on Friday through its official handle on X, the Commission firmly denied issuing such information, describing the graphic as misleading and unauthorised.
INEC stressed that the message did not originate from the Commission and warned that the circulating graphic is unverified.
The electoral body urged the public, media organisations, and political stakeholders to disregard the message in its entirety and rely only on official communication from the Commission.
