The Independent National Electoral Commission in Zamfara State has restated its resolve to conduct a credible, transparent and fair electoral process ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The assurance came from the Zamfara Resident Electoral Commissioner, Dr. Mahmud Isah, during a stakeholders’ meeting held to announce the resumption of the second phase of the Continuous Voter Registration exercise in the state.

Isah stressed that the success of the CVR exercise and the credibility of future elections depend on broad-based collaboration, noting that the commission cannot deliver a credible process in isolation. He urged political actors, traditional rulers, security agencies, civil society groups and the media to work closely with INEC to safeguard the integrity of the 2027 polls.

He also reminded eligible Nigerians that voter registration remains a civic duty, urging residents to register and collect their Permanent Voter Cards to enable full participation in the democratic process.

The REC disclosed that INEC has approved the nationwide resumption of the CVR, with online pre-registration already ongoing. He added that physical registration at INEC local government offices across Zamfara State will begin on January 5, 2026.

The meeting drew wide participation, including the Emirs of Gusau and Maru, representatives of major political parties, members of the Inter-Party Advisory Council, security agencies and media organisations.
