Executive Director of the International Press Centre (IPC), Lanre Arogundad has demanded a thorough investigation of the sudden disappearance of a journalist.

The missing journalist Tordue Salem, who was the Vanguard Newspaper’s House of Representatives correspondent was said to have suddenly disappeared last week Wednesday.

He was reportedly last sighted within the premises of a Total Filling Station, opposite the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja Police headquarters on Wednesday evening.

As at the time of filing this report, the Editor of Vanguard newspaper, Eze Anaba confirmed that Salem was yet to be seen as at this morning, Monday October 18, 2021.

Piqued by the development, Arogundade, in a statement said Salem’s disappearance is disconcerting and the search for him should be accorded high priority by the Police and other security agencies.

He said “In a country where the rights of journalists and media professionals are continuously violated, concerted efforts by relevant stakeholders are necessary to ensure that Mr. Salem returns to his family and beat safely”

While appealing to the government and the security agencies to do all within their powers to locate the Journalist, the safety of other journalists and media professionals, as suggested to him ought to be adequately, is guaranteed.”
