Super Eagles midfielder Alex Iwobi has sparked outrage after revealing the deplorable condition of the team’s hotel in Rabat, Morocco, just days before Nigeria’s crucial 2026 World Cup qualifying playoff against Gabon.
In a video circulating on social media, the Fulham star appeared speechless as he captured the rundown facilities and untidy surroundings of the team’s accommodation. The footage, which has since gone viral, has drawn widespread criticism and renewed debate over the Nigerian Football Federation’s (NFF) handling of players’ welfare and logistics.
Fans and sports analysts have expressed concern that such poor conditions could affect the team’s morale and performance ahead of Thursday’s playoff tie.
Nigeria advanced to the playoff stage after finishing second behind South Africa in Group C, and will now face Gabon in the semi-final clash. The winner of the encounter will go on to meet either DR Congo or Cameroon in the final.
A spot in the intercontinental playoffs scheduled for March 2026 — and ultimately, a ticket to the FIFA World Cup in the USA, Canada, and Mexico — awaits the eventual winner.
