Tuesday, Iyabo Masha received congratulations from President Muhammadu Buhari following her nomination as the head of the intergovernmental group of twenty-four (G-24).
Remember that the announcement of Masha’s appointment was made by the Group’s Secretariat on Friday in Washington, DC, and was first reported by Tribune Online.
In a letter of congratulations that he personally signed, President Buhari stated that the newly appointed G-24 head had created history by being the first African to lead the group since its founding in 1971.
According to the letter, the President urged Masha to utilize her position to advance the interests of developing nations, particularly with regard to their most pressing economic issues, including economic diversification, debt relief, taxation, and the growth of the financial sector.
“Having collaborated extensively with Dr. Masha while she served on the Presidential Economic Advisory Council, I am certain that she possesses the desire, commitment, and professionalism needed to successfully carry out the duties of the job.
Congratulations! Nigeria is proud of your accomplishment, and I hope you have a fruitful term, added Buhari.
