The Universal Tertiary Matriculation Examinations for 2024 and 2025 will take place. Registration will open today and end on February 24, 2024, according to a statement from the Joint Admission and Matriculations Board (JAMB).
National registration for interested candidates has begun, and JAMB Registrar Ishaq Oloyede has assured that safeguards have been put in place to ensure a smooth test.
This information was shared by Oloyede with media executives in Lagos State on Sunday.
Oloyede said, “Prior to the commencement of the registration exercise, the Board conducts an accreditation exercise to check the suitability of each CBT Centre for the conduct of its examination.”
Oloyede emphasized that the Chief External Examiners (VCs/Rectors/Provosts), Technical Advisors, JAMB state coordinators, and JAMB Technical Officers make up the accreditation team for the 2024 UTME Computer-Based Test (CBT) centers.
One of the registration procedures is for candidates to create a profile using their National Identity Number at specific computer-based test centers across the country, as stated in the presentation distributed to stakeholders.
It is necessary for candidates to create their profiles using JAMB USS codes 55019 or 66019 in order to register.
The registrar did stress, though, how crucial it is to use a single USS code in order to avoid repeated charges.
As a special verification tool for thumbprints, this step is required of candidates in order to finish the registration procedure.
The registration price for the 2024 UTME is N3,500, as specified in the procedure. Cashless payment will be accepted to avoid any kind of extortion.
According to a document made available to PUNCH Online on Sunday, JAMB has authorized 747 Computer-Based Test (CBT) centers nationwide for the 2024 UTME, up from 613 approved centers in 2023.
This represents an increase of 134 CBT locations for this year’s matriculation exams.
With 80 certified centers, Lagos tops the list of states with the most centers for the 2024 UTME. Ogun comes in second with 44, while Oyo is in third place with 42 centers.
Conversely, Ebonyi and Kebbi States each have eight authorized centers, while Zamfara has the fewest—just six.
According to a PUNCH Online research, there are 226 CBT centers in the South-West geopolitical zone, which is the highest concentration, and only 67 in the North-East.
