Bendel Insurance goalkeeper Joshua Baba has returned to the club ahead of their Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) Matchday Eight fixture against Sporting Lagos after the club declared him absent without official leave (AWOL).
The goalkeeper failed to report for duty after his approved recovery period expired. He had sustained an injury during Bendel Insurance’s opening match against Warri Wolves at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin City.
The club granted Baba two weeks to recover from the injury. He subsequently travelled to Plateau State to visit his family but did not return to Benin City within the stipulated period.
According to Bendel Insurance, Joshua Baba returned to the team on Saturday night when he arrived at their hotel in Lagos. His return comes as the Benin Arsenal prepare to face Sporting Lagos in their Matchday Eight fixture.
Baba previously played for Enyimba before joining Bendel Insurance. However, the club has not provided further details about his fitness or whether he will feature in the upcoming match.
The goalkeeper’s return gives the club another option as they prepare for the fixture against Sporting Lagos
