The Federal Government has announced that all 774 local government areas in the country will have internet connectivity in the next four years.

Minister for Budget and National Planning, Mr. Udoma Udo Udoma, disclosed this while speaking at the 42nd Annual Conference of Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators of Nigeria (ICSAN) in Lagos.

“One of the projects supported by the Industrial Council is a project to increase broadband penetration across all geopolitical zones of the country,” Udoma said.

“This project is intended to ensure that within the next four years every single one of the 774 LGAs in the country will be provided with fibre connectivity.”

He said the President Muhammadu Buhari-led government had been working to increase internet availability across all geopolitical zones of the country through the support of the private sector.

“Government has set up an Industrial Policy & Competitiveness Advisory Council (Industrial Council), with extensive private sector membership, as a vehicle for partnering with the private sector on the industrialization drive,” Udoma said.
