JUST IN: UGM ALLEGEDLY DEMANDED N5 MILLION IN RANSOM BEFORE BEHEADING THE LOCAL GOVERNMENT CHIEF OF IMO

Chris Ohizu, the sole administrator of the Ideato North LGA in Imo State, was kidnapped on Friday, January 20, 2023, and beheaded by unidentified assailants.

On Sunday, January 22, the council chief’s kidnappers allegedly executed him after obtaining an N6 million ransom.

According to DailyTrust, Ohizu and two other people were abducted on Friday from his rural residence in the Imoko community of the Arondizuogu region. His rural home was also totally destroyed.

According to the account, he was shot before being taken away.

Just before he was killed, Ohizu could be seen on a video bowing before his kidnappers.

It was said that they recorded a beheading on Sunday and used his phone to update his WhatsApp status.

Police have started an inquiry into the incident, according to ASP Henry Okoye, a spokesperson for the Imo Police Command.
