Senator Aliyu Wamakko, former Governor of Sokoto State and head of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in the state, has stated that the party chose Bola Ahmed Tinubu as its presidential candidate to ensure the country’s unity is maintained.
While welcoming the two groups, Wamakko stated that Nigeria is one indivisible nation and that “hence, Sokoto is a home to all tribes regardless of where one hails from.”
“Nigeria is for all of us,” he stated, emphasizing the importance of working together to create a better tomorrow.
Senator Wamakko remembered that as Governor of the state, he abolished what was then known as school fees for non-indigenous people in the state.
He also disclosed that he selected one of them as his Special Adviser in his government only to make sure they were taken along.
He promised them that if granted the mandate in the 2023 elections, the APC would take them into account.
Senator Wamakko made the statement while speaking to the leadership of resident communities, the Sokoto State council of Obas, who paid him a solidarity visit in his Gawon Nama residence in Sokoto.
Meanwhile, the Council of Obas and the residents of Sokoto State have thrown their complete support behind all APC candidates in the state.
During their visit, the Oba in Council, led by the Chairman of the Group, Alhaji Surajudeen Sahabi, who spoke on behalf of the Association, informed the Senator that they were ready to work with the APC leadership to ensure the party’s success in the 2023 elections in Nigeria, particularly the party’s presidential candidate, Asiwaju Ahmad Bola Tinubu, and the APC gubernatorial candidate in Sokoto state, Hon. Ahmed Aliyu Sokot
Similarly, the Association of Sokoto State Residents Community, led by Alhaji Salmanu Muhammad Oke, stated that their visit was to express their unwavering support for APC’s landslide victory in the next elections.
He further stated that the citizens of the state will never forget the vital gestures made by the administration of Sen. Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko as Governor of the state.
Barrister Bello Muhammad Goronyo, APC North West Zonal Secretary, and other key party leaders attended the visit.
