In a statement, the family said, “It is with immense sadness that we announce that Kevin Keegan has passed away at the age of 75.” They added, “The former England ‌player and manager had been battling cancer and was ⁠surrounded by his wife and daughters ‌in his final moments. Kevin, a double Ballon D’Or winner, was a much-loved husband, ‌father and grandfather. The family would like to thank Kevin’s ⁠incredible medical team ⁠for all their support.”

Kevin Keegan enjoyed an outstanding playing career, becoming one of Liverpool’s greatest players. Between 1971 and 1977, he made 303 appearances for the club and scored 100 goals. During that successful spell, he helped Liverpool win three league titles, two UEFA Cups, one European Cup, and one FA Cup, establishing himself as one of the finest footballers of his generation.

After leaving Liverpool, Kevin Keegan joined Hamburg, where he continued to shine on the international stage. His exceptional performances earned him the prestigious Ballon d’Or in 1977 and 1978, making him one of the few players to win the award in consecutive years.
