Mr. Danlami M. Kurfi was appointed by the federal government to lead the Rural Electrification Agency’s governing board and ensure that power was provided to rural villages yesterday.
Mr. Goddy Jedy-Agba, the Minister of State for Power, performed the inauguration in Abuja.
Kurfi will succeed Abdulazeez Yar’Adua, the former chairman of the board, who resigned to run in the 2023 election for the Katsina Central Senatorial District, according to a statement from Inyali Peter, the Minister of State for Power.
While pushing the board members and management to collaborate in order to carry out their mandate, Jedy-Agba issued a warning against factionalization or the formation of any kind of camps inside the board or agency.

“I’d like to extend my congratulations to the new Chairman on his selection. He has experience working in government and, as a two-term former member of the House of Representatives, I am confident that he is the ideal candidate for the position. I also want to congratulate Mr. Mohammed Badamasy, who served as acting Chairman while we looked for a new one.
“Board members, I implore you to offer the new Chairman the same corporate backing that you gave the outgoing Chairman. I am aware that everyone of you is an expert in the subject matter of your tasks. Interaction between the board and management is something we want there to be. On the board, there shouldn’t be any camps or factions.
We don’t want to hear that the board is at odds with management or that management is mistreating the board. You must always remember that the main reason you were hired was to assist the government in carrying out the agency’s mandate by giving rural residents access to dependable, efficient, and sustainable electricity.
Kurfi praised President Muhammadu Buhari and the Minister of State for deeming him deserving of the position during his speech at the ceremony.
According to Kurfi, the makeup of the “rightly picked” board members, who represent all facets of national interest, is a true indication of optimism and a potent combination that would allow the board to carry out its duties.
He promised that the board that reports to him will continue to evaluate business acquisition options in important renewable energy regions across the nation in collaboration with management and other pertinent stakeholders.
