Babatunji Wusu –

On Monday, Hon. (Dr.) Ahmed Olanrewaju Apatira, the executive chairman of the Itire-Ikate Local Council Development Area, gave food supplies to nursing mothers and people with disabilities throughout the district’s public health centers.

According to the Chairman, the distribution that took place at the council secretariat was organized to lessen the financial difficulty brought on by the loss of the fuel subsidy.

Dr. Apatira reaffirmed in his speech that his administration is always prepared to assist the physically challenged in any way that may make their lives easier.

He claims that the distribution will benefit more than 5,000 households and continues, “This is merely a fraction of what we have done to identify with the people at this extremely crucial time in our national life. These are band-aid solutions to help the most disadvantaged people in our society cope with the withdrawal of fuel subsidies.

“Over the coming days, our administration will implement a variety of palliative measures to assist those in the formal and informal sectors, including the distribution of food items, discounted transportation, free delivery at our PHC, and financial assistance to small-scale business owners and vulnerable individuals in the various communities.

Even if we recognize the reach limitations of this admirable endeavour. As non-partisan criteria will be used to identify the beneficiaries, it is a continuing initiative.

“I don’t think the quantity or scope of the products distributed today’s event is the most crucial factor. The idea of empathy that drives what we do is the most important thing. The government, at all levels, has compassion for everyone in our society, regardless of social class. We are devoted to doing everything in our power to assist the populace in adjusting to these current hassles.

He said that tomorrow, on Wednesday, the distribution’s second phase will start with the delivery of food goods to small-business owners, craftsmen, religious organizations, market vendors, traditional leaders, and other interest groups.
