Lagos Task Force Arrests Residents for Illegal Refuse Dumping in Akesan

The Lagos State Task Force has arrested several residents for dumping refuse illegally around the Akesan area of Alimosho Local Government Area, following intelligence reports from the Oba of Akesan and the Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA).

Lagos Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, confirmed the enforcement in a post on X on Wednesday, stating that Task Force operatives stormed the area at dawn and apprehended the offenders in the act. They were immediately transferred to the agency’s office in Oshodi for prosecution.

Wahab stressed that the state would not tolerate irresponsible disposal of waste, noting that those who undermine environmental laws will face strict legal action. He reaffirmed the government’s resolve to enforce cleaner and healthier surroundings across all communities.
