LASEPA Seals 12 Lagos Businesses Over Environmental Violations

The Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA) has sealed 12 business premises across the Ijora Causeway and Apapa areas for repeatedly violating environmental regulations despite receiving several warnings, abatement notices and opportunities to comply with the agency’s directives.

The enforcement operation, carried out on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, targeted establishments that failed to address environmental concerns identified during previous inspections. According to LASEPA, the affected businesses breached regulatory standards and ignored corrective measures issued by the agency.

The sealed facilities include Helmar Building Materials, Laprivad Nigeria Ltd, Innocast Nigeria Ltd, Body Language Shipping & Cargo, Laodo Control Jetty, Adaps Nigeria Ltd, Kehdi Equipments Ltd, Bulus Hotel, Park Inn Hotel, Mandarin Supermarket, Hamada Enterprises, and Infinity Pirelli Tyres, all located within the Ijora and Apapa axis of Lagos State.

Speaking on the exercise, LASEPA General Manager, Dr Babatunde Ajayi, reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to enforcing environmental regulations and safeguarding public health through continuous monitoring and strict compliance measures. He stressed that protecting the environment requires the cooperation of businesses, residents and government agencies.

According to Ajayi, the agency will continue to strengthen enforcement against individuals, corporate organisations and business operators whose activities threaten environmental sustainability or public wellbeing. He urged all facility owners to obtain the necessary environmental approvals, comply with existing regulations and adopt responsible operational practices that support a cleaner and healthier Lagos.

The latest enforcement exercise highlights LASEPA’s determination to ensure that businesses operate within approved environmental standards while promoting sustainable development and reducing pollution across the state.
