Students of the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Iseyin campus, have accused Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde and the institution’s Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Razaq Rom Kalilu, of politicising their education and exposing them to worsening academic hardship.
The students, under the banner of Concerned Students of LAUTECH, Iseyin Campus, issued the alarm in a “Save Our Soul” message sent to DAILY POST on Thursday.
LAUTECH, owned by the Oyo State Government, created the Iseyin campus a few years ago. Recently, students of the Faculty of Agriculture were moved from the main campus in Ogbomoso to Iseyin. But the students say the relocation has plunged them into severe academic setbacks.
They alleged that despite repeated letters and peaceful protests, their complaints have been ignored. They say the situation has deteriorated into what they describe as “gross administrative negligence.”
The students lamented that the Faculty of Agriculture in Iseyin operates without a single livestock or poultry unit, leaving them with no practical training. They said they paid for a “Farm Practice Year” yet carried out no tangible fieldwork.
