Lookman Fires Atlético Madrid to 1-0 Win Over Girona

Ademola Lookman struck the decisive goal as Atlético Madrid edged Girona 1-0 on Sunday to secure a narrow La Liga victory.

Diego Simeone’s side dominated proceedings from the opening whistle and broke the deadlock in the 21st minute when Lookman converted from an assist by Antoine Griezmann.

The goal marked the Nigeria international’s fourth league strike of the season since joining Atlético Madrid from Atalanta in January.

Lookman was later withdrawn 27 minutes from time, with Clément Lenglet introduced as Atlético managed the closing stages of the encounter.

Despite the win, Atlético Madrid remain fourth in the La Liga standings as the race for European places intensifies.
