A faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) backed by Seyi Makinde and the Allied Peoples’ Movement (APM) has deepened opposition collaboration ahead of the 2027 general elections after both parties signed a Memorandum of Understanding in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.
The agreement was signed on Thursday by Seyi Bamidele on behalf of the PDP faction, while Oladele Oyadeji signed for the APM.
Governor Makinde and the National Chairman of the APM, Yusuf Dantalle, also endorsed the pact on behalf of both parties.
The alliance comes amid growing political realignments ahead of the 2027 elections and follows Governor Makinde’s declaration of interest in the presidential race.
Political observers say the move positions the Oyo State governor among the early contenders emerging in calculations for the 2027 presidential contest.
The agreement is expected to strengthen opposition coordination and expand political negotiations ahead of the next election cycle.
