Governor Seyi Makinde on Monday presented a budget estimate of N891.9 billion for the 2026 fiscal year to the Oyo State House of Assembly, anchoring the proposal on economic expansion and a production-driven future for the state.
Makinde, who addressed lawmakers in the presence of prominent traditional rulers, said the budget—tagged Budget of Economic Expansion—targets aggressive infrastructural growth and improvements in the education sector, which will take the largest allocations.
He disclosed that 56.3% of the total estimate will go to capital projects, while 47.6% is reserved for recurrent expenditure.
Infrastructure will receive N210.25 billion, representing 22.55% of the budget, while education will take N155.209 billion, amounting to 17.40%. The health sector is allocated N70.848 billion (7.94%), and agriculture gets N19.98 billion (2.24%).
Speaker of the Assembly, Adebo Ogundoyin, assured that every budgeted fund will be thoroughly monitored, insisting that the projects captured in the proposal will deliver tangible benefits to residents across the state.
