By Babatunji Wusu – The management of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic has dismissed 365 students for using forged academic records to gain entry into the school. The institution’s Head of Public Relations and Protocol, Mr Yemi Ajibola, announced the news in a statement on Monday in Abeokuta.
Ajibola explained that the individuals were studying in different Higher National Diploma courses. A thorough credential verification exercise revealed that the students had handed in counterfeit National Diploma results and fake transcripts from various other schools. They used these fraudulent files to secure their spots at the polytechnic.
The spokesperson stated that the mass expulsion happened after a deep dive into registration papers. The school wants to clean up its internal network and maintain high educational values. The institution reiterated its zero-tolerance policy on fraud, forgery and other forms of academic misconduct.
A clear look at the data shows that the School of Communication and Information Technology had the most cases, with 156 students dismissed. The School of Business and Management Studies followed with 117 expulsions. Meanwhile, officials found 54 guilty students in the School of Science and Technology, 36 in the School of Engineering, and two in the School of Environmental Studies.
The rector, Dr Koye Jolaoso, strongly warned future applicants never to use fake papers to enter the campus. He emphasized that this strict credential verification exercise proves the school’s dedication to honesty and hard work. Moving forward, the polytechnic will keep using this credential verification exercise to protect the value of its degrees and promote real transparency.
