Mararaba Flyover Project Nears December 2026 Completion Date

The Mararaba-Nyanya Flyover in Nasarawa State is expected to be completed by December 2026, according to the state government.

Wada Yahaya, Managing Director of the Nasarawa State Urban Development Board, disclosed this during an inspection tour by the Renewed Hope Ambassadors National Media Tour. The 2.6-kilometre project aims to ease traffic, reduce congestion and improve links between Nasarawa State and the Federal Capital Territory.

Yahaya said the project includes two flyover bridges, an elevated road and five pedestrian bridges. The design will allow traffic to move more freely without disrupting business activities around Mararaba.

The Mararaba-Nyanya Flyover is expected to cost between ₦43 billion and ₦44 billion in total. Construction accounts for almost ₦40 billion, while compensation and road furniture, including markings, signs and streetlights, will add to the cost.

According to Yahaya, the Mararaba-Nyanya Flyover could cut travel time between Abuja and Keffi from more than two hours to under 40 minutes. He also said the project would support economic activity in Mararaba and across Nasarawa State.

The inspection team also visited the completed Lafia Flyover, Underpass and Interchange, the Dalhatu Arab Specialist Hospital project in Akwanga, and the Total Flyover Bridge and Underpass in Keffi. The completed Akwanga Interchange and Underpass was also inspected.

Tunde Rahman, Director of Media and Publicity of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors, said the projects showed how increased federal allocations had expanded the fiscal capacity of state governments.

The Mararaba-Nyanya Flyover therefore represents a major investment in urban transport and infrastructure. If completed as scheduled, could it significantly ease traffic between Abuja and Keffi?
