Lionel Messi has agreed to stay with Paris St Germain until at least the 2023-24 season, according to the French daily Le Parisien on Wednesday.

The 35-year-old forward, a seven-time Ballon D’Or winner, helped Argentina win the World Cup on penalties against France in the final on Sunday.

“An agreement was reached (for Messi) to continue on for at least one more season in early December, in the thick of the World Cup,” the paper stated, citing no sources.

PSG did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

Messi is satisfied at Paris Saint-Germain, according to President Nasser Al-Khelaifi, who added that talks on a contract extension will take place after the World Cup.

Messi, who has 12 goals and 14 assists in all competitions for PSG this season, signed a two-year contract with the club in 2021.
