Members of the Minority Caucus in the House of Representatives will meet in Abuja on Monday to deliberate on the ongoing legal action filed by their leader, Kingsley Chinda, seeking to halt an alleged plot to unseat him.

A meeting notice circulated on Sunday and jointly signed by Agbedi Frederick (PDP), Afam Ogene (LP), Muktar Umar-Zakari (NNPP), and Peter Uzokwe (YPP), confirmed that the caucus will hold a crucial session ahead of the House’s resumption from recess on Tuesday, October 7, 2025.

Chinda had approached the Federal High Court in Abuja on September 25, asking for an injunction to stop what he described as unconstitutional moves to remove him from office. He alleged that some lawmakers were targeting him over his perceived closeness to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.

In his suit, Chinda listed twelve defendants, including the National Assembly, the Speaker of the House, the Clerks of both chambers, and the leadership of six opposition parties—PDP, LP, NNPP, APGA, SDP, ADC, and YPP.

Insiders claim that some opposition lawmakers have grown increasingly dissatisfied with Chinda’s leadership, accusing him of aligning too closely with the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). They argue that his approach has weakened the opposition’s voice on key national issues such as economic hardship, insecurity, and corruption.

Critics within the caucus also faulted Chinda for failing to convene a single Minority Caucus meeting since the inauguration of the 10th Assembly over two years ago and for granting interviews that allegedly contradict the PDP’s official position.

With tensions escalating, the Monday meeting is expected to determine the caucus’s next steps, even as the court processes continue. Observers say the outcome could reshape opposition dynamics in the 10th National Assembly.
