The flagbearer of the People Democratic Party ahead of the presidential elections, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar will be meeting with former president, Olusegun Obasanjo today, according to reports.
This will be the first time, both political leaders will be meeting since Atiku emerged as the presidential candidate for the PDP at a keenly contested primaries in Port Harcourt.
The duo have had a patchy relationship since they fell out over differences in ideas as Obasanjo rounded up his second tenure as the president. It is understood that Atiku also played a vital role in blocking Obasanjo’s third term bid which resulted in the latter vowing never to support Atiku’s presidential ambition.
However, there are reports that the former president may tilt towards Atiku following his harsh criticisms about the current administration of President Muhammadu Buhari.
Vanguard reports that the meeting between Atiku and Obasanjo was facilitated by Afenifere leaders who had on Tuesday visited Obasanjo to mediate between the two.
