In the second iteration of the MTN Media Innovation Programme (MIP), which aims to increase the ability of media professionals in the nation, MTN Nigeria is investing over N100 million.

The investment satisfies the organization’s promise to have a positive impact on the Nigerian media sector through rigorous training that introduces participants to media convergence, technology, and the potential for fusing excellent reporting with media technology in the future.

The MTN Media Innovation Programme is a fully financed, six-month fellowship offered to 20 fellows by the Pan-Atlantic University School of Media and Communication.

In addition to other engagements, the second MTN MIP, which began on May 15, 2023, will feature a study trip to the University of Witwatersrand in South Africa and a visit to the MTN Innovation Centre.

Tobechukwu Okigbo, the chief corporate officer of MTN Nigeria, said in a statement released yesterday: “When MTN celebrated its 20th milestone in Nigeria, we had a talk discussing the difficulties the media is facing in Nigeria and how we may intervene. We put up a paper, presented it to the Board, and it was approved, which is why we are present today.

“The world is continually evolving, and technological breakthroughs have changed media practices. The MIP’s core principle is that the modern media practitioner must continue to be inventive.

have observed the program’s effects on media professionals and are inspired by the advantages this cohort will bring to Nigeria’s media landscape.

By putting money into the essential infrastructure, including as 5G technology and people resources, MTN Nigeria says it is committed to fostering innovation in Nigeria. Every MIP fellow will have a better understanding of Nigeria’s telecoms sector and how it relates to media innovation by the end of the program.

When appropriate, this will aid practitioners in comprehending and examining telecommunications sector trends. In order to ensure that the industry is at the forefront of worldwide reporting on technology trends, the initiative will also improve the writing and reporting standards within the sector.
