Popular comedians Mubarak Muhammad (Uniquepikin) and Nazifi Muhammad have been remanded in custody by a magistrate court in Kano State for allegedly defaming the state’s governor, Abdullahi Ganduje, in one of their skits.
According to Daily Nigerian, the pair created a skit portraying Ganduje as a corrupt politician who sold all of the state’s public land parcels.
They were charged by the police, according to the report, and appeared before Magistrate Court 58 in Nomansland, which was presided over by Magistrate Aminu Gabari.
The defendants admitted guilt to the allegations of conspiracy and defamation of the governor’s character after the charges were read to them.
The case was consequently postponed until November 7 so that the punishment could be passed, and the court ordered that they be kept in jail custody.
