A youth corps member, Dr. Emmanue Uweh, who alleged that three Nigeria Air Force officers assaulted him at the NAF base in Shasha area of Lagos on Monday, has said that his health is his priority at the moment.

In a now-deleted Twitter thread, Uweh had narrated how the NAF officers had assaulted him for allegedly being a civilian and also for not greeting one Flying Officer Idris.

Uweh in an exclusive chat with our correspondent , alleged that Idris had threatened to “deal with him” and, on Monday, the threat was carried out.

“My fear and anger are that they threatened my life and yesterday (Monday) they carried out their threats and inflicted injuries on me.

“I’d have to go take care of myself because they don’t take me seriously. My priority now is my health.

“They (the NAF officers) have been doing so, but this is the first time someone was being assaulted.”

Uweh claimed that on October 25th, Idris and his friends had harassed him and they had “marked him for destruction” and said they would visit him at night.

He said that he reported the “harassment” to both the hospital commandant and his NYSC LG inspector.

He added that if something had been done about his complaint, Idris and his friends would not have carried out their threat.

“I’m not sure if anything was done about the harassment, otherwise, I would not have been assaulted yesterday.

“I only got to know their names yesterday (Monday).

“Idris and his friends have made threats on my life before now, saying they’d mark me for destruction and visit me at night.

“They said so on the 25th of October, which was the first day I was harassed around 2.00 p.m.

“They prevented me from reporting early to work, with Idris telling me how he doesn’t like how I was looking at him and how I was standing, all the while calling me “a civilian” repeatedly.

“I’m still in pain. I don’t think Idris and his friends understand the severity of the injury inflicted on me.

“I’d need to take myself to get an X-ray and a CT scan.

“My worry now is that even this morning at the military Police station in the barracks, Idris was called to make a statement and he was still insisting on the greeting and how he was trying to enforce it on us.

“I had not even had food the whole day when this issue occurred at about 3:30 p.m. My only offence is being a civilian doctor in the barrack.

“Idris, after assaulting me and seizing my phone, chased me as if I was a thief.

“He wasn’t remorseful this morning, even though I got calls that it’s being handled.”

Uweh went on to say that the hospital commandant had apologised on behalf of the officers.

He said when he had reported both the earlier harassment to his LG Inspector, his complaints had been forwarded to the State Coordinator, who called the hospital commandant.
