The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has honored 12 commands and 148 individuals for their exceptional performance and promoted 3,248 employees.
Brigadier General Buba Marwa (Ret. ), Chairman of the NDLEA, revealed this on Thursday in Abuja as he decorated some of the recently promoted officers.
He claimed that the organization now recognizes employees who perform their jobs to a high standard and has an ingrained culture of excellence.
According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Marwa honored four Assistant Commanders General of Narcotics and three Deputy Commanders General of Narcotics at the ceremony.
Additionally, he gave some employees prizes and letters of praise for their exceptional work during the first half of the year.
“We can claim that we have upped the standard without being ostentatious. Our weekly efforts to cut down on drug supply are proof of our success.
“It is admirable that we have approached drug demand reduction in such a novel way.
“The intricate and effective intelligence we deploy to track drug barons and dismantle cartels is a testimony to the capability of the new NDLEA we have collectively forged,” the official said.
According to Marwa, another unambiguous indicator that the agency was performing its duties effectively was the success rate of cases that were prosecuted.
“Our worries about what the future holds for the NDLEA and its staff have been allayed.
“Even though we are currently in the midst of a quick evolution, there have been profound changes, and we have developed a better, more effective, and sustainable system that ensures livable working circumstances, positive employee welfare, and improved job performance.
“By enlarging the Agency’s structures, we were able to resolve the issue of career advancement.
“We are working more closely with both domestic and foreign partners.
“All these translate into ample opportunities for upward mobility for focused, hardworking officers,” he said.
According to the NDLEA boss, the Agency has undergone many changes over the last 2.5 years, including paying employees for their dedication and expertise.
“Everyone who is eligible for advancement has been taken into account. Additionally, we are increasing our training options.
More than 6,000 cops have participated in more than 150 training sessions during the past 18 months, he claimed.
Therefore, Marwa urged everyone working for the NDLEA not to get complacent and to always take pleasure in their work, noting that Nigerians value their efforts.
The President and Commander in Chief assured the NDLEA of his administration’s steadfast support just last week on World Drug Day.
“Our worldwide allies and foreign countries are keeping an eye on us and providing us with the necessary encouragement.
And we have a good reputation among narcotics law enforcement organizations. Our reputation is well-known. Therefore, it is up to us to keep up the good job instead of letting it lapse.
We should not yet take a break from rowing. We must maintain the momentum of our upward trajectory, improve upon our work, and keep up the defense of our well-earned reputation.
The staff was exhorted to go above and above by the NDLEA chairman.
In terms of effort, discipline, courage, professionalism, devotion, and all those time-honored values that lend labor respect, I demand more from us on this point, he continued.
DCGN Joyce Titus-Awogbuyi spoke on behalf of the promoted and honored officers, thanking Marwa for her inspirational leadership of the Agency and empowering the staff to break down boundaries and succeed in their areas of responsibility.
According to Titus-Awogbuyi, the promotion and accolades will further motivate the staff to make greater contributions to attaining the organization’s aim of freeing Nigeria from drug misuse and trafficking.
