The Nigerian Economic Summit Group (NESG) has appointed Dr Nonny Patricia Ugboma as its new Executive Director, Policy and Programmes and Chief Summit Officer, reinforcing its commitment to advancing economic policy reforms and private sector-led development in Nigeria.

According to a statement signed by NESG Chief Executive Officer, Dr Tayo Aduloju, the appointment took effect on Monday, August 3, 2026, following approval by the organisation’s Board of Directors. The move is expected to strengthen the Group’s leadership as it continues promoting sustainable economic growth, inclusive development and stronger public-private collaboration.

In her new position, Dr Ugboma will oversee the organisation’s policy programmes, public-private dialogue platforms, policy commissions, strategic initiatives and the annual Nigerian Economic Summit. She will also lead stakeholder engagement, partnership development and the implementation of summit recommendations aimed at translating policy discussions into measurable national impact.

With more than 25 years of professional experience, Dr Ugboma has built a distinguished career across finance, telecommunications, institutional development, innovation policy, energy and sustainable development. She joined MTN Nigeria in 2003 and later served as Executive Secretary of the MTN Nigeria Foundation, where she directed nationwide education, healthcare, youth empowerment and community development programmes across approximately 850 project locations.

Her academic credentials further strengthen her profile. She holds a PhD in Innovation and Public Policy from University College London, alongside postgraduate degrees from University College London and King’s College London, as well as a degree in Accounting and Financial Analysis from the University of Warwick.

The NESG expressed confidence that Dr Ugboma’s leadership will strengthen economic policy reforms, deepen stakeholder collaboration and accelerate initiatives that improve investment, competitiveness and long-term economic growth across Nigeria.
