The newly appointed service chiefs have committed to uphold human rights while carrying out their constitutional responsibilities.
This is in keeping with their commitment to relieve the country of the insecurity that has plagued it.
Major General Christopher Musa, Chief of Defence Staff, announced this on behalf of other service chiefs during a visit to the Ministry of Defence in Abuja on Monday.
Musa, on the other hand, stated that the Armed Forces under his command would carry out their duty professionally and with regard for human rights.
He asked Americans to consider the Armed Forces to be theirs.
“To the civilians, the Armed Forces are for you, and we will do whatever it takes to ensure Nigeria thrives,” Musa stated.
“We are committed to completing the task at hand.” While doing so, we will observe human rights. We can assure you that our approach will be quite professional.
“We assure you all that we are present and committed to carrying out the president’s mandate.”
Musa also vowed that he and the service chiefs will bring about a lasting peace that children could be proud of.
“We want Nigeria to be peaceful,” he stated. We grew up in a peaceful Nigeria and know what it is like, and we want to make sure that our children are proud of the country throughout our time.”
Ibrahim Kana, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Defence, stated that Octagon was established as part of the previous government’s efforts to restructure the military.
“The MOD has developed activities to key into the affairs of the new government, particularly the reform of the armed forces, which the previous government approved and we have begun implementation,” Kana stated.
“One of them is the establishment of the Octagon; you know, we have the Pentagon in America.” In Nigeria, our leaders chose Octagon, a circumstance in which citizens and military personnel work together to ensure the nation’s security.”
He also stated that the military would work with the federal government to ensure economic progress.
“We are committed to Nigeria’s deep blue services,” Kana stated. Nigeria is completely encircled by sea. Some countries rely significantly on the blue economy, which we have yet to tap. As a result, we are dedicated to assisting the government.”
