Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, who is also the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) vice presidential candidate, has been called a traitor by Ijaw leader Chief Edwin Clark.
In addition, Clark requested that Okowa apologize to Southern Nigeria and his colleagues before resigning as Abubakar Atiku’s running partner for the PDP presidential nomination.
“I can see why you purposely and immorally deceived your Southern Nigerian colleagues and the people for your own selfish ambition by accepting to be Alhaji Atiku Abubakar’s running partner, he added. You wanted to get off on a safer footing.
“No, God’s favor prevents your plea from being granted. Maybe you’ve lost sight of how serious an offense you’ve perpetrated against the people of Southern Nigeria.
The Ijaw leader also requested that the Delta Governor provide an accounting of the State’s utilization of the N250 billion 13% derivation budget.
Additionally, he charged that the governor had utilized the funds to build up his hamlet at the expense of the oil-producing areas.
