The election for the second term of Gombe State Governor Muhammed Yahaya was held on Saturday.
Muhammad Jibiri Barde of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who received 233,131 votes, lost to Mr. Yahaya of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who received 342,821 votes.
The APC won the election by a margin of 74,493 votes, according to the results announced by Maimuna Waziri, the returning officer for the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Professor and vice chancellor of the Federal University of Gashua, Mr. Waziri, reported that the state has 1575794 registered voters.
In addition, she noted that 618,231 registered voters had cast a total of 616745 votes in the election on Saturday.
She declared that there were 605,355 total valid votes and 11,390 total invalid votes.
