On Wednesday morning, suspected gunmen kidnapped seven students from the University of Jos (UNIJOS) who were living off campus.
Our correspondent learned that the incident occurred at 1:00 a.m., as the students were studying for their ongoing second-semester test at a private hostel near the defunct Nigerian School of Accountancy along Bauchi Ring Road in Jos North local government.
The kidnappers assembled in their numbers, assaulted the hostel, smashed into the room where they were reading, pushed them into a waiting vehicle, and raced away.
DSP Alfred Alabo, a Plateau police spokesman, verified the event when contacted.
He stated that personnel from the Command are combing the jungle for the students. A student in a private hostel who desired anonymity reported that the kidnappers sneaked into the hostel and kept the seven students hostage at gunpoint for over thirty minutes before forcing them to leave.
