American rapper Nicki Minaj has expressed concern over the Plateau State killings after reports emerged of fresh attacks on Christian communities in the central Nigerian state.
The reports have drawn renewed attention to violence affecting communities in Plateau State, where attacks have killed residents and displaced others in recent years.
Minaj reacted after Nigerian pastor Rev. Ezekiel Dachomo highlighted the latest violence and shared reports about attacks on Christian communities.
A report by TruthNigeria, titled “Nigerian Pastor Referenced by Trump Buries Members Amid Ongoing Killings,” detailed a new wave of attacks in Plateau State.
According to the report, attackers killed three Christians in Gassa and Chit villages on 24 September.
The violence reportedly continued the following night, when two more people were killed.
Five others were reportedly killed the next morning, bringing the number of reported deaths from the latest attacks to 10.
The incidents have increased concerns about the security of rural communities in Plateau State.
Dachomo has repeatedly drawn attention to attacks affecting Christian communities in the state. His reports have also attracted attention outside Nigeria.
Following the latest report, Minaj commented on the situation.
“Lord, if we hear from you, then we will know what to do,” she wrote.
Her comment quickly attracted reactions on social media.
Some Nigerians called for greater international attention to the violence. Others used the discussion to renew calls for stronger action to protect communities affected by repeated attacks.
However, reports of violence in Plateau State should be considered carefully, particularly when casualty figures come from initial accounts. Independent verification remains important as investigations continue.
The Plateau State killings have also raised broader questions about the protection of vulnerable communities and the response of security agencies to recurring attacks.
Plateau State has experienced cycles of communal violence, with disputes involving land, ethnicity, religion and access to resources often contributing to tensions. Different actors have offered competing explanations for specific attacks.
The latest reports have therefore placed renewed focus on the security situation in the state and the need to establish what happened in each affected community.
Minaj’s intervention has also widened the conversation. Her large international following means her comments can bring attention to events that may otherwise receive limited global coverage.
For families affected by the Plateau State killings, however, the immediate concern remains security and accountability.
