On Friday, the Coalition of Niger Delta Oil Producing Ethnic Nationalities Forum urged President Bola Tinubu to urgently restore operations at the Port Harcourt and Warri refineries to boost the region’s economy. Over 300 members protested at the Warri Zonal Office of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), led by Comrade Emmanuel F. Pathfinder, the forum’s President.

During the protest, the group presented a letter to the President, calling for the support of local refineries, including the Dangote Refinery, to end fuel importation. “We demand that President Tinubu overhaul the entire NNPCL to remove corrupt officials working with cabals,” Pathfinder stated.

The coalition expressed frustration over what they described as NNPCL’s neglect of the Niger Delta refineries. They claimed that influential figures benefit from fuel importation profits and have thwarted government efforts to cease importing refined products, all while NNPCL, under CEO Mele Kyari, allegedly supports these practices.
