The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has opened its 2026 recruitment exercise for Nigerians interested in joining the Service as tradesmen/women and non-tradesmen/women.
The NAF recruitment portal will open on Thursday, September 3, 2026, and remain available until October 14, 2026. The Air Force announced the exercise on its official 𝕏 handle on Wednesday as part of the NAF Basic Military Training Course (BMTC) 47/2026.
The Service said the application is completely free and urged applicants to carefully review the eligibility conditions and application guidelines before submitting their forms.
For tradesmen/women, applicants must be aged between 18 and 27 as of March 1, 2027. Non-tradesmen/women must be between 18 and 22 by the same date. All applicants must be Nigerian citizens by birth, with minimum heights of 1.66 metres for males and 1.63 metres for females.
Applicants must also meet the NAF’s medical, physical and psychological fitness standards.
For tradesmen/women, candidates with ND or NCE qualifications must hold certificates from accredited institutions. They also need at least five credits, including Mathematics and English Language, in no more than two sittings in WAEC, NECO, GCE, NABTEB or NBAIS. Candidates applying for driving roles must hold a valid driving licence, while applicants for trades requiring a Trade Test must provide the relevant certificate.
Non-tradesmen/women must have at least five credits, including Mathematics and English Language, alongside their Primary School Certificates and Secondary School Testimonials.
Successful candidates must complete the required Acknowledgement, Parent/Guardian Consent and LGA Attestation Forms. The attestation must be endorsed by an approved military, police, local government or magistrate authority from the applicant’s state of origin.
The NAF recruitment process will later include a zonal general aptitude test, followed by interviews for candidates who qualify. The test date will be announced through the recruitment portal.
The Air Force also warned applicants about fraudsters and stressed that the NAF recruitment exercise is free of charge.
