Nollywood actress Nkechi Blessing Sunday has revealed a disturbing encounter that nearly shaped her career in the wrong direction. Speaking on a recent episode of The Honest Bunch podcast, the actress disclosed that one of her earliest challenges in the industry was being handed outrageous and demeaning scripts.

She recounted being offered a role that required her to sleep with a dog, a script she immediately rejected, insisting it would damage her reputation before her career even began.

“Despite being a newcomer, I was given a script to sleep with a dog. I rejected it because I can’t start off my career like that… Whatever you start with is what people would associate you with. I didn’t want to be renowned as someone who sleeps with dogs in movies,” she said.

Blessing said that moments after she dropped the script, several other aspiring actresses rushed to take it, adding that none of them rose to prominence afterward.

Leaving the production site proved to be a turning point. She revealed that she met veteran filmmaker Emeka Duru, who expressed interest in working with her. Duru later linked her to celebrated producer Emem Isong, giving her an entry role in the film “Through The Fire.”

Since then, Blessing has built a thriving career, crediting her early decision to protect her image as one of the keys to her success.
