Nigerian singer Bella Shmurda has openly stated that his 2020 hit song Cash App was intentionally made for internet fraudsters, popularly known as Yahoo boys.

Shmurda, speaking in a recent interview with Clout Africa, revealed that he created the track to “make Yahoo boys happy” after realising that internet fraud is a “stressful hustle” with “many challenges.”

When asked by the host what inspired the hit single and whether he was involved in internet fraud, Shmurda dismissed any personal participation but admitted the song was tailored to the lifestyle of Yahoo boys.

“It is Yahoo in the sense that they have to dance. These people that are hustling, you have to make them happy,” he said. “Because internet fraud is stressful. It has a lot of challenges… Inspiration is natural. It is God-given. So, Cash App is divine.”

Cash App, which features Zlatan and Lincoln, became an instant anthem upon its release in 2020, dominating Nigerian airwaves and spreading across Africa.
