Biafra separatist leader, Nnamdi Kanu, has finally complied with a Federal High Court order in Abuja to open his defence in the terrorism case filed against him by the Federal Government.

Under the supervision of Justice James Omotosho, Kanu was seen filing his defence documents inside the courtroom, in line with the judge’s directive.

The move followed Kanu’s repeated complaints about difficulties in filing his defence. To ease the process, Justice Omotosho temporarily relocated the court registry to his courtroom, allowing Kanu to submit the necessary documents without delay.

Federal Government’s counsel, Adegboyega Awomolo, confirmed his readiness to receive the filings within the courtroom and respond accordingly.

As of press time, proceedings had been stood down for an hour to allow the completion of the filing process.

Kanu had previously refused to open his defence, arguing that he must first be shown the specific terrorism law he allegedly breached.

His compliance marks a significant turning point in the high-profile case, which has drawn national and international attention.
