The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Kano State Command, arrested two men suspected of stealing a car during a routine patrol along the Eastern Bypass.

Officers intercepted the suspects at Ladanai Junction at about 2am while they were allegedly driving a red Toyota Carina II Wagon.

The vehicle, with registration number LFA 417 AA from Nasarawa State, had reportedly been declared stolen three days before the arrest.

The NSCDC identified the suspects as 61-year-old Abdullahi Sani and 63-year-old Abdullahi Suleiman.

According to the command, Sani lives in Kurna Tudun Bojuwa, while Suleiman is from Kantudu in Dala Local Government Area of Kano State.

The arrests followed a night patrol by NSCDC officers in the Ladanai area. The command said the operation helped its personnel intercept the vehicle as the suspects attempted to drive away.

Separate cable vandalism arrest

In a separate operation, NSCDC officers arrested a 45-year-old man, Suleiman Shehu, over the alleged vandalism of an armoured cable belonging to Triumph Nigeria Limited.

Officers arrested Shehu in Bompai, within Nassarawa Local Government Area of Kano State.

The command said Shehu works for the company and allegedly vandalised the cable. However, investigators are still working to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident.

The three suspects remain in NSCDC custody while officers conduct preliminary investigations into the allegations.

The command said it would prosecute the suspects after completing the investigations.

NSCDC praises officers

The NSCDC Kano State Commandant, Mohammed Hassan Agalama II, praised the officers involved in the operations.

He said their vigilance and prompt response showed the importance of routine patrols and intelligence-led operations in tackling crime.

Agalama also assured residents that the command would continue to work with other security agencies and members of the public to protect lives and property.

Meanwhile, the NSCDC urged residents to remain vigilant and report credible information about suspicious activities to security agencies.

The command said cooperation between security agencies and residents remains important in preventing crime and protecting communities.
