In a recent statement, National Security Adviser (NSA) Nuhu Ribadu firmly rejected allegations made by former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai, who suggested that Ribadu was scheming for a presidential bid in 2031. Ribadu, a former chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), addressed the claims, stating that his sole focus remains on serving the country and supporting the success of President Tinubu’s administration.
El-Rufai, during an interview on Arise TV, claimed that Ribadu was attempting to eliminate northern politicians to pave the way for his supposed presidential ambitions. Ribadu, however, quickly refuted these allegations in a statement released the same day. He emphasized that he had never spoken ill of El-Rufai and had no intention of doing so now, out of respect for their shared history and families.
Ribadu further clarified that he had never discussed the idea of running for president in 2031 with anyone. He urged the public to disregard El-Rufai’s assertions, reminding everyone that his energy and efforts are entirely dedicated to advancing Nigeria’s development and contributing to the success of the current administration.
