The Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) has released the shortlist for its January Player of the Month award, spotlighting five standout performers who impressed for their clubs during the period under review.

Abasiofon Uwah, Kareem Ramatalahi of Rivers Angels, Ismail Zainab of Ekiti Queens, Akekoromowei Janet of Bayelsa Queens and Atume Doosur of Edo Queens made the final list after delivering eye-catching performances that shaped their teams’ outings in January.

The league body also announced nominees for the Manager of the Month award, with four coaches earning recognition for their tactical influence and results. Danjuma Christopher of Nasarawa Amazons, Tosan Blankson of Rivers Angels, Whyte Ogbonda of Bayelsa Queens and Moses Adaku of Edo Queens are all in contention for the honour.

According to the NWFL, winners of both categories will emerge through votes cast by fans, a process designed to deepen supporter engagement across the league.

In December, Robo Queens’ forward Rafiu Tosin clinched the Player of the Month award, while Emmanuel Osahon was named Manager of the Month.
