National Youth Service Corps has extended the service year of 12 corps members in Osun State over violations committed during the 2025 Batch A Stream II programme.

The announcement was made by Ekeng Ita Kubiangha during the distribution of Certificates of National Service to successful corps members at the passing-out ceremony held in Osogbo on Thursday.

According to the NYSC coordinator, the disciplinary action followed provisions contained in the NYSC Bye-Laws guiding the conduct of corps members across the country.

The NYSC Osun sanctions also affected 27 corps members who reportedly absconded from their Place of Primary Assignment during the service year without official approval.

Kubiangha disclosed that 2,132 corps members completed the programme successfully and received their Certificates of National Service during the ceremony.

He explained that the sanctions were necessary to maintain discipline and protect the integrity of the national service scheme. “The scheme remains a platform for personal growth and national development,” he said.

The NYSC Osun sanctions come as the agency continues efforts to enforce compliance with service regulations among corps members nationwide.

Kubiangha praised the majority of the outgoing participants for their commitment and contributions to community development throughout their one-year national assignment. He also urged discharged corps members to uphold the values of patriotism, discipline and integrity learnt during service.

The coordinator further advised former corps members to safeguard their Certificates of National Service because of their importance for future employment and career opportunities.

The NYSC Osun sanctions statement also included a warning against involvement in partisan political activities ahead of upcoming elections in the state. Kubiangha urged the discharged corps members to remain security conscious and focus on personal growth and economic opportunities.

Do you think stricter enforcement of NYSC rules will improve discipline among corps members?
