Babatunji Wusu – Former Deputy Senate President and governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta State, Ovie Omo-Agege, has expressed his dissatisfaction with the decision of the Appeal Court, which upheld the victory of Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori. According to reports by Naija News, the Court of Appeal, in a unanimous ruling, affirmed Oborevwori’s election as the winner of the March 18 poll in the state, stating that Omo-Agege’s appeal lacked merit.
In response to the Court of Appeal’s judgment, Omo-Agege referred to it as a delayed redemption for the people of Delta State and indicated his intention to seek justice from the Supreme Court. In a statement released through his Media Adviser, Sunny Areh, Omo-Agege urged his supporters to remain calm and law-abiding.
The statement emphasized Omo-Agege’s firm belief that the people of Delta State, who voted for him and the APC, are yet to receive justice, and expressed confidence that the Supreme Court will rectify the overlooked issues highlighted in the appeal and deliver justice to the people. Omo-Agege reiterated his commitment to defending the trust and faith bestowed upon him by the voters and affirmed his unwavering dedication to what is morally right.
“We will proceed to the Supreme Court. The issues at stake touch on the future and well-being of the people who voted for a New Delta. We have a duty to respect them by defending their faith in us with every sense of diligence and responsibility. We don’t waver on what is right. I am confident that the revered Justices of the Supreme Court will examine the areas overlooked at the Appeal Court and give justice to our people,” the statement read.
