As Muslims in Nigeria prepare for the Eid-el-Kabir celebration, security agencies in Ondo State have rolled out a comprehensive plan to ensure safety and order across the state.
The Ondo State Security Network Agency, codenamed Amotekun, has deployed no fewer than 600 personnel across all 18 local government areas as part of proactive security measures aimed at preventing crime before, during, and after the Sallah festivities.
Amotekun State Commander, Chief Adetunji Adeleye, while speaking in Akure, said the outfit is working in close coordination with other security agencies to maintain law and order during the celebrations.
“Our men will be on 24-hour patrols, both on the highways and within towns, to ensure peace and security. Flashpoints and black spots have been identified and are being closely monitored. We want to guarantee a safe and joyous celebration for our Muslim brothers and sisters,” Adeleye said.
He urged Muslim faithful to celebrate responsibly and remain law-abiding, assuring that all necessary measures are in place to protect lives and property.
Similarly, the Ondo State Police Command has assured residents of a robust and water-tight security arrangement for the Eid celebrations. The Commissioner of Police, Wilfred Afolabi, through the command’s spokesperson, SP Ayanlade Olayinka, announced the deployment of tactical units, intelligence officers, and patrol teams across the state.
“All Eid praying grounds, public places, and critical locations will be secured,” the statement read. “Area Commanders and Divisional Police Officers (DPOs) have been directed to maintain high-visibility patrols and provide maximum security coverage throughout the period.”
Afolabi reiterated the command’s commitment to maintaining peace and warned that any attempt to disrupt public order would be met with swift and decisive action.
