The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State has criticised Governor Ademola Adeleke for travelling abroad despite growing security concerns across the state.

In a statement on Saturday, the party’s chairman, Tajudeen Lawal, accused the governor of “persistent missteps and misgovernance,” arguing that Adeleke’s actions since assuming office in November 2022 show a lack of preparedness and capacity to govern.

The APC said Adeleke’s recent trip to Texas for a birthday celebration, at a time neighbouring Kwara State battles increased bandit attacks, further exposes what it described as his misplaced priorities. The party insisted that many citizens have begun counting down to November 2026, when the governor’s tenure will end.

According to the opposition party, Adeleke “appears more fascinated by the glamour of office than by the responsibility to serve,” alleging that the governor has travelled to the United States at least six times this year for personal purposes.

The party also faulted the state of local governance, noting that grassroots administration has remained inactive for eight months. It questioned Adeleke’s silence over the ongoing strike by the Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN), which has kept state courts shut for over two months.

“All the state courts have been locked while the number one citizen is busy dancing across cities and continents,” the statement added, warning that the prolonged court closure denies justice to millions of residents.

The APC urged citizens to remain vigilant and endure what it described as the current governance lapses until the next election cycle.
