The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has reported a surge in voter enrollment, with more than 4.4 million Nigerians completing online pre-registration within four weeks of the ongoing nationwide exercise.

In a statement signed by Sam Olumekun, National Commissioner and Chairman, Information & Voter Education Committee, the Commission disclosed that as of Sunday, September 14, 2025, a total of 4,445,505 Nigerians had pre-registered online since the exercise began on August 18. Women lead the figures with 2,304,211 registrants (51.83%), compared to 2,141,294 men (48.17%).

Young people remain at the forefront of the process, with 2,924,643 registrants (65.79%) aged between 18 and 34, while students account for 1,112,344 (25.02%) of the total.

On completed registrations, INEC confirmed that 509,929 Nigerians had finalized their voter registration, combining both online pre-registration and physical enrollment as of Friday, September 12. Out of this figure, 280,171 (54.94%) are female, while 229,758 (45.06%) are male. Young people between 18 and 34 years make up 74.15% of completed registrations, with students accounting for 38.54%.

The Commission stated that detailed breakdowns by state, gender, age, occupation, and disability have been published on its website and official platforms.

On the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), INEC reminded residents that the online pre-registration ends Monday, September 15. Physical registration will continue at designated centers for two weeks before moving to all 62 wards in the FCT between September 29 and October 8, 2025.
