Ekiti State Governor, Abiodun Oyebanji, has promised President Bola Tinubu at least 80 per cent of the votes in the state, claiming that former governorship candidates of the PDP, SDP and APM have agreed to support his re-election bid.

Oyebanji made the announcement on Thursday at the APC campaign rally in Ekiti State ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

He told Tinubu that political leaders across the state had united behind the president. He also said former candidates who contested against him in the June governorship election were now supporting the APC.

According to the governor, Ekiti voters demonstrated their support for Tinubu when they returned the APC with 85.7 per cent of the votes in the June election.

Oyebanji described the result as a reflection of public support for the president. He also praised Tinubu for supporting development projects in the state.

He recalled that the president had sent Vice-President Kashim Shettima to Ekiti twice in May to commission projects and campaign. The governor said Tinubu had asked voters to assess his administration’s performance and support Oyebanji’s re-election if they were satisfied.

Oyebanji also mentioned former governors Ayodele Fayose, Niyi Adebayo and Kayode Fayemi, who attended the rally. He said former governor Segun Oni sent his apologies.

Addressing the vice-president, Oyebanji said there was no political crisis in Ekiti and assured the APC leadership of the state’s support.

He further promised that Ekiti would increase its support for Tinubu at the January 2027 election.

The governor urged residents to deliver at least 80 per cent of the votes to the president, repeating his assurance that the state was politically united.

However, the endorsement claims and projected vote share remain statements made by the governor at the campaign rally.
